Wolfhalden is a municipality in the foothills of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland .
geography
The community of Wolfhalden is located in the Appenzeller Vorderland between Heiden AR and Walzenhausen , 300 meters above Lake Constance . The lowest point in the municipality is the Tobelmüli at 448 meters, the highest point is behind the Guggenbühel on the border with Heiden at 921 meters. The community is divided into different hamlets, some of which are far apart.
History and politics
The Battle of Wolfhalden took place here on June 11, 1445 during the Old Zurich War .
Until the church was built around 1652, Wolfhalden was part of the Kurzenberg community , which was part of the church after Thal SG .
Wolfhalden has developed a lot over the past few years. The current mayor is Gino Pauletti ( SVP ).
