Bühler is a municipality in the central plateau of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland .

geography

Bühler is located between Teufen and Gais on the Appenzeller Bahnen route . The village of Steig belongs to Bühler. Neighboring communities are Teufen, Schlatt-Haslen , Gais, Trogen and Speicher .

population

The population development was negative until a few years ago. In 1980 Bühler had 1940 inhabitants, in 2000 it still had 1598. At the end of 2010 the population stabilized at 1668.

Attractions

The reformed church was built in 1723 by Lorenz Koller and Jakob Grubenmann . In 1828 the tower was renewed.

The former town hall of Trogen , built in 1598, was moved to Bühler in 1842 and is now used as a residential building. The upper knitted part of the house could be dismantled and rebuilt in Bühler on a new wall.

Numerous manufacturers' houses from the 18th and 19th centuries stand on Dorfstrasse , including the Türmlihaus , built around 1790 .
