Werner Lutz

Werner Lutz (born October 25, 1930 in Wolfhalden ; † July 17, 2016 in Basel ) was a Swiss poet , painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

Werner Lutz was born in Wolfhalden in Appenzell in 1930. Most recently he lived and worked in Basel and Binningen .

By Rainer Brambach 's lyrics were him Georg Trakl , Franz Werfel and Georg Heym brought home. Works by Silja Walter also impressed him. At the age of 25 - despite his own resistance - his poems were included in the Junge-Lyrik -Anthologie published by Hanser Verlag , where Hans Magnus Enzensberger and Günter Grass were also represented.

Werner Lutz was considered a shy author. He was already 49 years old and a well-known poet through his poems in anthologies and literary magazines when he published his first volume of poetry at Suhrkamp in 1979 : “I need this life”. Almost a dozen volumes in Suhrkamp Verlag and Ammann Verlag with poems and lyrical prose followed. “The poems became tighter, and at the same time it was always a mystery what space there was in them - and how much space there was while reading. ... Werner Lutz needed a few words to bathe the world in a different, unusual light for a moment. "

A work edition was published by Waldgut Verlag in Frauenfeld . For Werner Lutz's 80th birthday, a volume was published with 30 of his poems, each with a contribution from various authors. Among these are Kurt Aebli , Bettina Balàka , Michael Braun, Beat Brechbühl , Rolf-Bernhard Essig , Urs Faes , Christian Haller , Anton G. Leitner , Klaus Merz , Michel Mettler , Andreas Neeser , Walle Sayer and Eva Christina Zeller .

At the 33rd Solothurn Literature Days 2011, he organized a reading together with Rudolf Lutz, who improvised on the piano .
