Vladimir Gennadjewitsch Tschagin ( Russian: Владимир Геннадьевич Чагин ; born January 5, 1970 in Nytwa ) is a former Russian rally raid driver.

Tschagin drove a truck belonging to the KAMAZ factory team. In 1990 he took part in the Dakar Rally for the first time , but had to give up prematurely. Tschagin was also unable to achieve the goal in his subsequent three participations in 1992, 1994 and 1995. He achieved his first finish in 1996 with a sixth place in the truck classification. After another retirement in 1998, he finished second overall at the 1999 Dakar Rally. In 2000 Tschagin recorded his first victory. After having lost again the following year, the KAMAZ works driver achieved three overall victories in a row between 2002 and 2004. In 2005 Tschagin was only 18th due to technical problems, in 2006 the now fifth Dakar victory followed. In 2007, Tschagin had an accident while trying to regain lost time after problems with diesel injection. At the 2009 Dakar Rally , Tschagin fought a close battle with fellow brand colleague Firdaus Kabirow right up to the last stage . On the last stage he lost a few minutes due to technical defects and ultimately had to admit defeat to his compatriot. After his repeated overall victories in the two subsequent events in 2010 and 2011, Tschagin finally replaced the Czech Karel Loprais ( Tatra ) as the Dakar record winner with seven successes .

On February 15, 2011, Vladimir Chagin announced that he would end his sporting career. After his career he takes over the management of the non-commercial organization "KAMAZ-Motorsport".
