Vladimir Rodrigues dos Santos

Wladimir Rodrigues dos Santos called Wladimir (born August 29, 1954 in São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian football player who played on the left side both as a defender and as an attacker.

His time at Corinthians is the most significant of his long career , as he became one of the best left-backs the team has ever had and because he was politically active alongside Sócrates and spoke out against the Brazilian military dictatorship. The Corinthians democracy was one of the themes of a film documentary that was broadcast on Arte in 2012 with the name “Rebels on the Ball” and moderated by Éric Cantona .

He won the São Paulo state championship four times : in 1977, 1979, 1982 and 1983. He is the Corinthians record player with 803 games.

In 1998, the Federação Paulista de Futebol , the football association of the state of São Paulo, voted him the sixth best player in the Campeonato Paulista . He was voted the best left-back in Corinthian history by football magazine Placar Magazin .

In 1983 he was in the squad of the Brazilian national team at the Copa America , but was not used.
