Vladimir Sergeyevich Antozhin
Vladimir Sergeyevich Antozhin ( Russian Владимир Сергеевич Антошин ; born May 14, 1929 in Moscow , † May 13, 1994 ) was a Soviet chess grandmaster .
He was awarded the title of International Master by FIDE in 1963 , and then the title of Grand Master in 1964 . He won the International Chess Tournament in Zinnowitz in 1966. He won the World Student Team Championship twice with the Soviet team (1955 and 1956), and in 1955 he won a gold medal on the third board. In 1954 he achieved second place.
In the Dutch defense the Hort-Antoshin variant is named after him, in the Philidor defense the Antoshin variant bears his name.
