Despite the prizes won, the producers could not have the film recognized as a French film because too little French was spoken in the film. The French authorities found that 41 words were missing to make the film a French film. This setback led the manufacturing company Dulciné Films into bankruptcy.
Hiner Saleem plays a small role in the film.
