WodorasdelLag

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WodorasdelLag , established in 1952, was a special camp of the MWD for political prisoners . These special camps with a tightened regime were special facilities created by the Interior Ministry MWD (formerly NKVD) in the general Gulag system in the Soviet Union in the post-war period .

designation

WodorasdelLag, Russian Водоразделлаг (short) or Водораздельный лагерь, was originally called Ossoblag No. 12 , d. H. Special camp No. 12 (from особый лагерь № 12, особлаг № 12). WodorasdelLag derives from Водораздельный ла́герь, d. H. Watershed camp. These designations for the originally numbered special camps were assigned later and mostly randomly, as a kind of code, mostly without any reference to reality (unlike other special camps, the name was not derived from the telegraph code - it was "Omega").

History, activity

The camp was established as the last of the twelve special camps on October 25, 1952 based on Decree No. 00219 of the Ministry of Interior MWD of February 21, 1948 and was located near the Mikun railway station on the Pechora Railway in the northwestern Russian Autonomous Republic of Komi . The warehouse was closed on April 29, 1953. It was subject to the GULLP and GTU headquarters.

The camp inmates were used to work in the area of logging and forestry, as well as in the construction of some sections of the Pechora railway. The camp was closed on April 29, 1953.

Occupant Numbers

The number of prisoners was:

  • March 1, 1953 - 1,162 prisoners
  • March 1, 1953 - 728 prisoners

The originally planned capacity was to include 35,000 prisoners (25,000 of the "special contingent" and 10,000 of the "general contingent"); however, these numbers were dropped, as was the takeover of 8,000 prisoners from Special Camp No. 10 - KamyshLag .
