House Schwippert

The Schwippert residential and studio building at Leo-Statz-Strasse 14 in Düsseldorf-Golzheim was built in 1953/1954 by Hans Schwippert (1899–1973) according to the design principles of functionalism and post-war modernism .

description

The building is geometrically abstract and functional. The "externally unadorned masonry [with] a flat roof" is geometrically abstract. The design of the surrounding buildings was adopted with the white brick masonry. A sparing architectural structure is created by the few, narrow, tall rectangular doors and windows that are equally wide.

The floor plan is functional. The building has an atrium , a square inner courtyard, to which the living-dining room, bedroom and studio with large windows open on three sides. The apartment and studio can be reached via separate entrances. The garage can be accessed from two sides of the corner lot. From the office building, the architect took over "switching options that make it possible to change the room size".

The building is a listed building .
