The residential building Khreschtschatyk 42 ( Ukrainian Будинок за адресою Хрещатик, 42 / Budynok sa adressoiu Khreschtschatyk 42 ) is part of the listed urban ensemble in the city center of the Ukrainian capital Kiev , which extends from Khreshchatyk No. 40 to No. 52 Tarschatyk. Shevchenko Boulevard extends.

The ornate towers of the building, which was built in the style of eclecticism with elements of the Renaissance and Baroque by the architect O. Kryvoschejewa in the years 1895/96, were lost in a fire. There were four boutiques and a restaurant on the lower floor of the new building, and apartments on the upper floors.
The house is a typical example of an inner-city multifunctional building from the end of the 19th century. Today the residential and office building on the ground floor houses commercial space.
