The Taras Shevchenko Boulevard ( Ukrainian Бульвар Тараса Шевченка ) is a boulevard in the center of the Ukrainian capital Kiev .
history
The promenade , planted with linden and chestnut trees , was laid out between 1830 and 1840 and has been named after the Ukrainian national poet Taras Shevchenko since 1919 .
location
The 1,800-meter-long boulevard is located in Shevchenko Raion in the center of the city. It starts at Bessarabska Square at the corner of Khreschtschatyk and ends at Victory Square , behind which it continues as the Victory Prospectus.
Development
There are numerous monuments and museums along the street, such as the Lenin Monument, which has now been overturned , the Nikolai Shchors equestrian statue, the St. Vladimir's Cathedral, the main building of the Pedagogical University , the Yellow Building of the University of Kiev and the Taras Shevchenko National Museum .
There are also two green areas , namely the Botanical Garden and the Shevchenko Park with the Taras Shevchenko monument on the street.
