The residential building on Deichstrasse 38 in Bremerhaven - Mitte , Deichstrasse 38 and Fährstrasse 25, dates from 1869 and has been a listed building in Bremen since 1982 .

history

Bremerhaven, which was founded in 1827 and is now the Mitte district, grew from the port area to the east and south to the Geeste with Deichstrasse.

The three-story, plastered residential and commercial building from the historicism era directly on the Alte Geestebrücke , with a four- story gable as a stepped gable , the pinnacles and the corner tower is one of the few buildings in the southern city center that have survived after 1944. Some design elements are reminiscent of the Tudor style .

The then tree-lined Fährstraße led to the Bürgermeister-Smidt-Straße and the old port . Several restaurants were popular with seafarers, including the former Sir Henry restaurant in this corner building.

Today (2018) there are apartments, offices, shops and Nikos galley in the house . Immediately to the west in Deichstrasse are the eleven well-known gabled houses designed by Peter Weber .
