House ensemble of the Bremen wool combing company
The house ensemble of Bremer Woll-combing is located in Bremen , district Blumenthal , the district Blumenthal , Martin Luther Street, Lüssumer road and Wigmodistraße. The residential ensemble was built in 1913, 1922/24 and 1934 for the Bremen wool combing company based on plans by various architects. The buildings have been a listed building in Bremen since 2013 .
history
The Bremer Woll-Kämmerei (BWK) from 1883 initially employed 150 and in 1896 already 2000 workers. The first industrial enterprise in rural Blumenthal changed the structure of the place extensively. At the beginning of the 20th century, entire streets with houses were built for up to 5000 workers.
The residential complex was built from 1913 to 1934 in the conservative style of the time for senior BWK employees, not far from today's A 270 motorway and the Martin Luther Church .
The five objects belong to the ensemble:
- Martin-Luther-Straße No. 14/16 and Wigmodistraße No. 36/38: two identical, two-storey, plastered two-family houses from 1913 in reform style with hipped roofs, large bay windows and loggias for management employees of the BWK according to plans by Albert Köhler, Oldenburg;
- Lüssumer Straße No. 35: Two-storey, clinkered rental house for company apartments from 1922 with a hipped roof and a medium risk according to plans by the building department of the BWK;
- Martin-Luther-Straße No. 1/3: two-storey, clinkered, conservative semi-detached house from 1924 with hipped roof and facade ornaments for BWK director Heinrich Delius based on plans by Arthur Karst, Bremen;
- Wigmodistraße No. 40: Clinker-clad garage facility with 10 garages in a round U-shape arranged from 1934 according to plans by the building department of the BWK.
