The housing supply Berlin (WVB) is an institution under public law of the State of Berlin with no legal capacity and has no assets , which advises the Senate and the six state-owned housing companies ( Housing Association Berlin-Mitte , Gesobau , Gewobag , Howoge , Stadt und Land , Degewo ). The central task of the WVB is therefore to formulate political guidelines for the implementation of the housing policy mandate, for the corporate structure and management of these housing companies and to present them to the Senate as a proposal.

The WVB is a subordinate institution of the Senate Department for Urban Development and Housing . The WVB was established on January 1, 2016 by the Berlin Housing Supply Act (WoVG Bln) or the law establishing the "Housing Supply Berlin - Public Law Establishment" (WoVErG BE), which was passed on the basis of the Berlin rent people's initiative .

The organs of the WVB include the board of directors and the administrative board with 15 members in addition to the sponsors' meeting through the responsible Senate administrations for finances and urban development (2 members) .

Advisory Board

In addition, the WVB has an advisory board that advises its bodies, the state-owned housing companies and the tenants' councils on aspects of housing policy. According to law, the advisory board should be composed of experts who have extensive knowledge and experience of housing and rent policy in Berlin and who have competencies with regard to the supply and housing market mandate of the state-owned housing companies and, among other things. a. Are active in science and research, housing and rent policy associations, interest groups, associations or initiatives as well as social work or welfare work. The advisory board currently consists of 21 people.
