Jarosław Morawiecki

Jarosław Józef Morawiecki (born March 11, 1964 in Siemianowice Śląskie ) is a former Polish ice hockey player and current coach. The striker was a Polish international .

He played with Zagłębie Sosnowiec until 1989 , with whom he was Polish runner-up in 1984 and Polish champion in 1985 . From 1994 to 1996 he was under contract in Sweden with Olofströms IK , then in France with Hockey Club de Caen . Morawiecki then returned to Poland and played in Katowice , Tychy , Sosnowiec and Toruń again , where he ended his career in 2004.

Morawiecki played for the Polish national team in the 1985 B World Cup , which the Poles were able to win and rise to. At the A-World Cup in 1986 Poland surprisingly beat the reigning world champion Czechoslovakia , but was the last to relegate at the end of the tournament. At the B World Cup in 1987 , Poland came first again. In 1988 Morawiecki took part with the national team at the Olympic Games in Calgary . Poland got off to a strong start at the tournament with a 0: 1 against Canada , a 1: 1 against world champions Sweden and a 6: 2 against France . After the game against France, Morawiecki was tested positive for testosterone during doping control and was banned for 18 months. After being banned, he tested positive again and received a life ban, which was suspended in 1994.

After the end of his playing career, Morawiecki became a coach, first in Toruń and later for the Polish U18 and U20 national teams.
