history

The settlement began on July 16, 1915. The former Möser, as the place was called until March 22, 1916, belongs to the Genthin district . On that day, the Genthin County Committee gave permission for a settlement to be built for the employees of the Royal Powder Factory. After the First World War , the Deutsche Reichsbahn took over the area and built a railway works there. For the workers, the settlement, now Kirchmöser-West, was supplemented by additional streets and houses from 1922 to 1925. The Teschemeier Government Building Council drew up the plans. In 1928 527 apartments were built, 2330 people lived here. According to the settlement law, a school and a church were added over time.

In the 1950s and 1960s more houses were built on the estate. These houses, like the one in Ahornallee, are not part of the monument.

The settlement

The center of the settlement is the market square. It's a rectangular square with trees in the middle. Shops and traders can be found here. Further to the west, Parkstraße turns into a roundabout. In the middle of the square is a linden tree. The roundabout is surrounded by two-story houses.

The church is located north of the market square on Ebereschenweg between Brandenburger Allee and Plauer Damm. The church is a hall building with a gable roof. The tower has a square floor plan. To the south of the church there is a parish hall and other rooms. The church is surrounded by a green area. There is a children's playground to the west of the church. The powder press house was used as a school, which was built in 1916. After a renovation, classes began in 1923.

The houses and villas that were built during the First World War are mostly two-story buildings with a hip or half-hip roof. They are designed differently and have parts in the historicizing style, such as risalits and dormers. But there are also columns and balconies.

The houses that were built later adapt to this style. However, five different house types were built, ranging from semi-detached houses to a house with five apartments. Kitchen gardens for the self-sufficiency of residents in the spirit of the garden city movement belong to almost all houses .
