The Genthin district was a district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in the GDR from 1950 to 1952 , then from 1952 to 1990 as the Genthin district in the Magdeburg district . From 1990 to 1994 it existed as the district of Genthin in Saxony-Anhalt. The seat of the district administration was in Genthin . His area is now in the district of Jerichower Land in Saxony-Anhalt.

The Genthin district bordered clockwise in the north, beginning with the districts of Havelberg , Rathenow , Brandenburg-Land , Burg and Tangerhütte (until 1987) and Stendal (from 1988).

history

On July 1, 1950, the Genthin district emerged from the main part of the Jerichow II district. In the course of the administrative reform of 1952 , the Genthin district was re-established on July 25, 1952 and belonged to the Magdeburg district . The district was a new administrative unit from parts of the former district of Jerichow II ( Saxony-Anhalt ). On May 17, 1990 the district was renamed Genthin County. With the district reform in Saxony-Anhalt, which came into force on July 1, 1994, the Genthin district was integrated into the Jerichower Land district .

License Plate

Motor vehicles (with the exception of motorcycles) and trailers were assigned three-letter distinguishing signs starting with the letter pairs HC and MC from around 1974 to the end of 1990 . The last number plate series used for motorcycles was HW 65-01 to HW 75-00 .

At the beginning of 1991 the district received the distinguishing mark GNT . It was issued until June 30, 1994. It has been available in the Jerichower Land district since November 27, 2012 .
