from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolf-Dieter Lehmann (born March 12, 1948 in Heilbronn ) is a German scientist in the field of mass spectrometry and its application in the life sciences .

Life

Lehmann studied chemistry in Bonn and Zurich and received his doctorate in physical chemistry in Bonn in 1975 . He is a professor emeritus at the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University , where he taught biochemistry and gave courses on the basics of mass spectrometry. Most recently, he was group leader at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg. Lehmann is the author of over 200 scientific articles as well as book chapters and two monographs and has made a significant contribution to science through innovations in the field of mass spectrometry in the life sciences. His specialty is the application of stable isotope labeling of molecules in mass spectrometry, about which he last published a review in early 2016.
