Wolf-Dieter Schuh
Wolf-Dieter Schuh (born June 20, 1957 in Güssing ) is an Austrian geodesist and has been a university professor in Bonn since 2000.
Wolf-Dieter Schuh studied surveying at TU Graz and graduated in 1981 with a diploma thesis on rational algorithms for normal equation inversion of geodetic networks. In 1984 he received his doctorate from Graz University of Technology. As a research or university assistant at Hans Sünkel in Graz, he dealt with mathematical geodesy (including compensation calculation and error detection in networks, coordinate transformation , application of collocation in geoid determination ) and developed the MATRIX program system in 1993. In the following years he conducted research in the subject area satellite gradiometry and started in ESA -projects of Satellite Geodesy and Earth observation system IGGOS of Reinhard Rummel (TU Munich) participate. In 1996 he completed his habilitation in "Theoretical Geodesy". Since 1997 he has taught as an associate professor at TU Graz. Its development work for the future GOCE - Satellite earned him in 2000 the call to the University of Bonn, where he next to this field of spaceborne gravimetry u. a. is also working on research on integration with GPS data and the field continuation of the gravitational potential from satellite orbits down to the geoid . Since 2000 he has been a full professor of theoretical geodesy at the University of Bonn . In this function he is the successor to Karl-Rudolf Koch .
