Wolf-Günter Leidel

Wolf-Günter Leidel (born December 14, 1949 in Königsee ) is a German composer , pianist / organist and music producer .

Life

From 1968 to 1974 Leidel studied conducting , composition , piano and accompaniment at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar . In 1972 he met the French composer Olivier Messiaen , with whom he then maintained a pen pals. From 1974 to 1983 he was ballet repetiteur and from 1979 Kapellmeister and composer for drama music at the German National Theater in Weimar . In 1978 he began teaching at the Musikhochschule Weimar, where he a. a. Taught composition, music theory and score playing. From 1983 to 1985 he was a master student in composition with Reiner Bredemeyer at the Berlin Academy of the Arts . He also worked as a freelance composer and choir director. From 1991 to 1993 he taught composition at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . Since 1993 he has been a professor for music theory in Weimar. In 1995 he was director of the International Conference of the Society of Organ Friends . He also works as an organist at the Herz-Jesu-Kirche in Weimar and has been chairman of the association for the promotion of late romantic music " vox coelestis " since 2004 . His compositions include orchestral and chamber music, organ works and songs.
