Wolf Harden
Wolf Harden (born May 13, 1962 in Hamburg ) is a German pianist .
Life
He received his early support from his mother, the pianist Ruth Harden, who gave him his first piano lessons, and his father, the musicologist and journalist Ingo Harden . He studied in Detmold with Eckart Besch and took private lessons with Jorge Bolet . In 1980, Harden founded the Trio Fontenay with the violinist Michael Mücke and the cellist Niklas Schmidt . Winning the Mendelssohn Prize in 1982 and the first prize at the German Music Competition in 1986 established the trio's international career. Numerous recordings that have received awards document the success. When the trio finally separated in 2006 after more than 2,000 concerts and 35 recordings, Wolf Harden had already made a name for himself as a soloist with many CD recordings. He mainly advocates for lesser-known works, such as the piano concerto by Hans Pfitzner and the piano music by Dohnányi , Lehár and Reger . At the Naxos label he started a project of at least twelve volumes covering the entire solo oeuvre of Ferruccio Busoni .
