course

The hiking trail begins in the Saarland community of Perl . From the town center it goes downhill into the valley of the Moselle . The hiker crosses the Moselle bridge and reaches the Luxembourg wine-growing community of Schengen . The place gained historical importance on June 14, 1985 through the Schengen Agreement , which provided for the dismantling of border controls between Germany, France and the Benelux countries . After Schengen, the path leads into the vineyards. After reaching a high plateau, you come to a widely visible wooden cross high above the French town of Contz-les-Bains , which you can reach by walking downhill in the Moselle valley. Now you cross the Moselle again and you are in Sierck-les-Bains . From here the path leads uphill again and after a while you can opt for a shorter variant of the path. This path leads back to Perl via Apach . The longer variant of the route leads via Kirsch-les-Sierck to Manderen . Here the hiker reaches Malbrouck Castle , which was built by the Lords of Sierck. Walking downhill again, you reach Merschweiller . Now it goes up again, you reach the German-French border and downhill to the starting point Perl.
