history
Mandern came to the Duchy of Luxembourg as an exclave under Johann the Blind in 1346 . Until the French Revolution , it was an enclave of Luxembourg in Lorraine . After the conquest of Luxembourg by France in 1795, it formed an enclave of the forest department in the Moselle department . In the Second Peace of Paris in 1815, the village and the rest of the Luxembourgish areas on the right of the Moselle fell to Prussia and formed a Prussian enclave in France before it came to France through the border convention between Prussia and France in 1829. The village of Tunting ( Tüntingen , nickname: Di Tënténger Dëppegiisser) has also been part of the Manderen community since 1830 .
On January 1, 2019, the Manderen community merged with Ritzing to form the Commune nouvelle Manderen-Ritzing. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. The municipality of Manderen belonged to the Arrondissement of Thionville .
