Wolfgang Bensch

Wolfgang Bensch (* 1953 in Cologne ) is a German chemist and university professor .

Scientific career

Wolfgang Bensch studied chemistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1973 to 1978 and graduated with a diploma . In 1983 he received his doctorate with his thesis on "binary, ternary and quasi-ternary vanadium - chalcogenides ". From 1984 to 1986 he was a research assistant at the Inorganic Chemical Institute of the University of Zurich . In 1986 he became an employee at Siemens in the field of microelectronics / mega technology. In 1990 he became a research associate at the Inorganic Chemical Institute of the University of Frankfurt and was appointed private lecturer in inorganic chemistry there in 1993. Finally, in 1997, he was appointed professor (C4) for inorganic chemistry at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . From 1998 to 2006 he was a member of the Expert Council of the Institute for Science Education (IPN) at the University of Kiel. From 2002 to 2008 he was Deputy Ombudsman at Kiel University. Since 2010 he has been chairman of the specialist group “Solid State Chemistry and Materials Research ” of the GDCh and a member of the Advisory Boards of J Solid State Chem ., Z. Naturforsch. B , Z. Anorg. General Chem. Furthermore, Wolfgang Bensch is a member of the Cluster of Excellence " Future Ocean " at the University of Kiel.
