Life

Origin and family

Aemil came from the East Prussian branch of the Lyncker family of civil servants and officers who originally came from Hesse . His father Ferdinand von Lyncker (1732–1811) was princely blackburg-sondershausen chancellor and consistorial president in Arnstadt. In 1786 he acquired the Nemmersdorf estate in East Prussia, which Lyncker later inherited. On August 8, 1800 he married Luise von Haeseler (1780–1855). His son Richard von Lyncker (1827–1901) also became a Prussian district administrator and was the father of the Prussian general of the infantry Alfred von Lyncker (1854–1919).

Military career

As was customary for young country nobility at the time, Lyncker entered the Prussian army as an officer candidate. When the war against France broke out in 1806, he was a first lieutenant in the “Courbière” infantry regiment . After the defeat of the Prussian army in the battle of Jena and Auerstedt , his regiment was one of the defenders of the fortress of Danzig . During the fighting against the French besiegers, he was wounded three times in a skirmish on March 26, 1807 and distinguished himself so that Colonel von Massenbach asked General von Kalckreuth to propose Lyncker to the king for the award of the order Pour le Mérite. In Massenbach's report of March 29, 1807 it says:

"Lieutenant Lyncker, who received three wounds in the affair on the 26th, a very excellent rifle officer, although he was assigned to another post of the catering committee, who nevertheless took over the command of the riflemen, continued fighting with the first wound and only with the third when he was carried away, the command resigned, I ask EE (Your Exellenz), him also with SM the king, to the order d. V. to propose graciously .... '. Kalckreuth reported to the king on March 30, 1807 and proposed to him, Prime Minister von Lyncker, to award him this medal. "

With the highest cabinet order of April 8, 1807, Friedrich Wilhelm III. Lyncker awarded the Pour le Mérite order. Lyncker served in the army for a while and retired from military service as a captain after the Peace of Tilsit .

Administrative career

In addition to managing his inherited land in Nemmersdorf, he entered the Prussian civil service. He became the first district administrator of the district administration of the Gumbinnen district, established on July 3, 1818 and administered this office until 1840.

Lyncker was also a co-founder of the Agricultural Association in Lithuania in 1821 and of the Georgine magazine founded in 1832 , a magazine for agricultural culture .
