Wolfgang Beuschel

Wolfgang Beuschel (born May 27, 1954 in Nuremberg ) is a German actor , director and lecturer at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences .

Life

Wolfgang Beuschel studied school music and German at the State University for Music Heidelberg-Mannheim and the University of Heidelberg . His work as an actor began in 1985 at the Pforzheim City Theater. This was followed by engagements in Aachen, Basel, Konstanz, Lucerne, at the Opera in Zurich and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. Since 2003 he has been head of the cultural sector in Zurich's Kulturmarkt, a qualification and further training project for artists looking for a job. He is also a conceptor and implementer for projects in continuing education on the subjects of communication, performing arts and new media.

Wolfgang Beuschel is interested in “Word and Sound” programs, especially the development of concert melodramas. In the 2010s he performed as a reciter at song recitals with Ruth Ziesak, Regina Jakobi, Hanno Müller-Brachmann, Martin Bruss, Christian Hilz, Ulrike Andersen and the pianists Simone Keller, Katja Bouscarrut, Peter Bordfeldt, Ulrich Eisenlohr and Walter Prossnitz.

As an actor he played Polonius in "Hamlet" and the wrestler Charles in "As You Like It" in Michael Klette's Aachen Shakespeare cycle, Markus Bothe played Puk in " Midsummer Night's Dream ", and Swetlana Schönfeld played Shlomo Herzl in "Mein Kampf". In Zurich he was Albrecht Hirches Woyzeck in the 1990s . He has also played Peter Shaffer's Amadeus, Ella von Achternbusch and Patrick Süskind's double bass, and in Hamburg at the Basta Theater in Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. At the Zurich Opera House he played the composer Schubert in Claus Guth's “Fierrabras” production. Together with the pianist Simone Keller he has the Schubert project "I moved in", "Kleist in Thun" - a Kleist reading, "Mendelssohn's Travels" and a Heine Evening "North Sea".

With the “theatermachern” in Zurich's cultural market, he staged “Top Dogs” by Urs Widmer in 2004, “Dirty Dishes” by Nick Whitby in 2005 and “Das Spiel vom Macbeth” based on William Shakespeare in 2006, in the first German translation by Christoph Martin Wieland. At EMI Classics, Wolfgang Beuschel can be seen on DVD as Schubert in Schubert's Fierrabras (directed by Claus Guth, Zurich Opera House) and co-author of the choir book “Chorissimo” with a focus on scenic work with choirs, published by Carus Verlag.
