history

Villanova was called Le Sprete until the 1970s , a place name that was mentioned as early as the 17th century. The origin of the name is not certain

The current place name was chosen to distinguish it from the neighboring Villalba, which also belongs to the municipality of Giudonia Montecelio. Villanova (Guidonia Montecelio) is not far from the ancient Villa Adriana , which belongs to the municipality of Tivoli .

Infrastructure

In Villanova there is the Eduardo De Filippo Primary School and the Giovanni XXIII Middle School. Villanova Church is dedicated to Joseph of Nazareth and was built in the second half of the 1950s.

In 1956 the Attilio Ferraris football stadium was built and the Villanova Calcio amateur sports club was founded in the same year . The Villanova Calcio team plays in the sixth Italian division (Eccellenza Regionale) today.
