Wolfgang Biedron

Wolfgang Biedron (born June 11, 1951 in Hohenfels , Bavaria ) is a former Swedish judoka . In 1977 he won a bronze medal at the European Championships.

Athletic career

Wolfgang Biedron grew up in the GDR and his sporting career began in Sweden. In 1973 he won an international tournament in Kerkrade. At the European Championships in 1977 in Ludwigshafen, the Frenchman Yves Delvingt won the half-light weight category in front of the Hungarian Ferenc Szabó , followed by Torsten Reißmann from the GDR and Wolfgang Biedron who won the bronze medals. Two years later, Biedron lost in the quarter-finals of the 1979 European Championships in Brussels against Nikolai Soloduchin from the Soviet Union. At the World Championships in Paris in 1979 he lost to Yves Delvingt early on and ultimately finished seventh. The following year he defeated the Brazilian Luis Onmura in the last sixteen at the Olympic Games in Moscow . In the quarterfinals he was defeated by the Mongolian Tsendiin Damdin , after his defeat against Yves Delvingt, Biedron finished seventh.

The 1.70 m tall Wolfgang Biedron is married to the judoka Eva Wikström .
