Wolfgang Bierstedt

Wolfgang Bierstedt (born June 12, 1952 in Calvörde ) is a former German politician of the PDS. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1994 to 1998 and from February 18, 2002 to October 17, 2002 .

Wolfgang Bierstedt is department head in a large data center at T-Systems CSM GmbH, Magdeburg . He has two children. After graduating from high school , he obtained a university degree as a computer scientist . In 1978 he joined the SED and remained in the PDS , for which he was twice elected to the German Bundestag via their state list in Saxony-Anhalt , initially in the 1994–1998 electoral period. He was a deputy member of the Finance Committee and the Economic Committee, the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety Committee and the Postal and Telecommunications Committee. He was a full member of the Committee for Education, Science, Research, Technology and Technology Assessment as well as the GDR Assets Investigation Committee and the Enquete Commission for the Future of Media in Business and Society. In 1998 he failed in the election and was the first to succeed. He finally moved back to the Bundestag in February 2002 when Heidi Knake-Werner was elected to the Berlin Senate, but left again at the end of the electoral term.
