Wolfgang Dobras

Wolfgang Dobras (* 1960 ) is a German historian and archivist .

Wolfgang Dobras studied history and Latin at the University of Konstanz from 1979 , where he received his doctorate in 1990 under Horst Rabe . From 1991 to 1993 he was an archive trainee at the Landesarchiv Berlin and attended the archive school in Marburg . He has been working at the Mainz City Archives since 1993 , which he has been managing since 2003. Since 2004 he has been teaching at the History Department of the University of Mainz , and in 2013 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Mainz.

His main areas of research are the city and church history of the late Middle Ages and the early modern period as well as Mainz numismatics . In his capacity as city archivist, he is the editor of the Mainz magazine and articles on the history of the city of Mainz .
