Wolfgang Dorninger

Wolfgang Dorninger , artist name also Fadi Dorninger (* 1960 in Linz ) is an Austrian musician , music producer and artist . He is a composer for film music, theater music, modern dance and sound installations.

Life

Dorninger studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna under Peter Weibel - Visual Media Communication from 1988 to 1995. He has toured and exhibited in: USA, Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Hungary, Spain, France.

Dorninger works as a musician and composer for Wipeout , The Smiling Buddhas , Monochrome Bleu (inactive), Josef K. Noyce (inactive) and Aural Screenshots (inactive) as well as for his own productions.

Dorninger has headed the Sonic Sound Environments experimental studio since 1995 . Since 1983 he has published more than 90 records including compilation contributions. From 1983 to 1992 Dorninger ran the tape label Die Ind (cassette culture) , from 1991 to 1993 the singles (7 inch) label 7inch12 (music from Linz, Austria), and since 1997 Dorninger has operated Base Records .

Since 1997, Dorninger has been operating the “Fadi's Real Audio Site” ( FRAS ) internet platform with a focus on electronic music. He is co-founder of the online music database SR Archive of Austrian Popular Music . This is an archive (in the Museumsquartier Wien ), an online database and music distributor of Austrian music with a collection focus on popular music from 1945 to the present day. More than 500,000 data sets are now available online, and a good 18,000 sound carriers can be viewed in the archive.

Dorninger curated art and music programs for numerous organizers such as B. for Ars Electronica ( SUB 'TRONIC , 1996 and 1997; Ridin' A Train , 1996–2000; Body Builder , 1997; Life Science , 1999; Next Sex on Ice , 2000)

In 1984 and 1987 Dorninger appeared at the Ars Electronica Festival together with Monochrome Bleu, in 1995 and 1996 with Aural Screenshots and in 1999 at the “Klangpark” with Michael Nyman.

Since 1998, Dorninger has also been teaching audio at the Art University Linz . He creates sound designs for exhibitions (e.g. Phonorama Center for Art and Media Technology - ZKM). He has created radio programs for Radio FRO , Music Box , FM4 , Horizontal Radio (Ars Electronica). Dorninger also runs the FADIMAT105 radio program on Radio FRO in Linz. In addition to contributions to film and video festivals, he was also an editor at the music and art magazine skug from 1990 to 1996 .
