Wolfgang Droege
Wolfgang Walter Droege (born September 25, 1949 in Forchheim ; † April 13, 2005 murdered in Scarborough , Canada ) was a Canadian-German right-wing extremist. Droege was initially a member of the Ku Klux Klan and later co-founder and leader of the Heritage Front , an ultra-national, anti-Semitic neo-Nazi organization.
Droege was born in Forchheim. His parents and grandparents were enthusiastic supporters of the NSDAP . Julius Streicher was considered a family friend. Droege emigrated to Canada with his mother in 1962. In 1967 he returned to Germany to join the Bundeswehr, but was rejected for health reasons.
He returned to Canada in the early 1970s and became a Canadian citizen.
Droege became more and more interested in right-wing politics and joined the right-wing extremist group Western Guard , and later Don Andrews ' s Nationalist Party of Canada . In 1975 he was arrested and convicted of willful harm for spraying white power slogans along the route of the African Liberation Day March in Toronto . In 1976 he joined the Ku Klux Klan, then the International Patriotic Congress . Droege founded another division of the Ku Klux Klan in Toronto and supported the organization of the KKK in British Columbia .
In 1981 Droege supported Operation Red Dog , an attempt to invade the Caribbean state of Dominica and take over government with the aim of reinstating the deposed Prime Minister Patrick John .
On April 13, 2005, Droege was shot dead by a visitor in his Scarborough apartment. Droege's friend Keith Deroux was arrested hours later in connection with the murder. On June 16, 2006 Deroux was sentenced to ten years in prison for manslaughter. He had pleaded guilty.
