Wolfgang Fürweger

Wolfgang Fürweger (born March 31, 1971 in Wels ) is an Austrian journalist and non-fiction author .

Fürweger studied political science, journalism and Russian in Salzburg . After graduating, he stayed in Salzburg and worked as a journalist. He started writing books in 2004. Since then he has written a series of books about leading Austrian companies, entrepreneurial dynasties and local politicians. His books have been translated into several languages ​​and he has appeared as an expert on several TV documentaries. With his latest book “Burned Childhood” he devoted himself to a historical topic for the first time. The book was named Science Book of the Year 2016 in the Humanities / Social / Cultural Studies category in Austria .

Wolfgang Fürweger has worked as a journalist for the Austrian daily newspaper since February 2007 as a local editor in Salzburg, and in 2010 he moved to Vienna as head of all Austrian local editorial offices. On September 1, 2016, he founded the Austrian private TV broadcaster oe24.tv with János Aladár Fehérváry , Christina Happel, Tobias Kühn and Marcel Schachinger, where he was editor-in-chief.

Since December 3, 2018 he has been employed by the Salzburger Kronen Zeitung as a political editor.

Fürweger has three daughters and is also a militia officer in the Austrian army .
