Wolfgang Gremmel (born April 25, 1948 in Groß-Himstedt, Söhlde ) is a former German handball referee . From 1998 to 2013 he was Vice President of the German Handball Federation , where he is responsible for finances. Together with his twin brother and team partner Manfred Gremmel he formed the cult referee duo of German handball.

His career as a referee, which he ended in 1998, began in 1970. Since 1980 he has been a member of the DHB squad and since 1988 the EHF / IHF squad.

In July 2015, Gremmel was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his voluntary work.
