Wolfgang Gurke

Wolfgang cucumber (* 5. July 1937 in Perwissau at Königsberg , † 4. October 2011 in Ballenstedt ) was a German CDU - politician and deputy in the parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

Gurke, born in Perwissau in 1937, completed his A-levels in 1957 at the Zwickau Engineering School for Automotive Engineering until 1961, with a degree in industrial engineering (FH). He then worked for VEB Kraftverkehr Ballenstedt until 1990, most recently as a technical director for science and technology.

Gurke had been a member of the GDR CDU since April 1, 1968 . Since 1990 he has been a member of the CDU local board of Ballenstedt and in 1994 became deputy district chairman of the CDU for the district of Quedlinburg.

In 1990 he was elected to the office of mayor of the city of Ballenstedt , which he held until July 3, 2001. Since his re-election as mayor was no longer possible due to his age, he ran for the state parliament. From 2002 to 2006 he was a directly elected member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt. There he was a member of the committee for culture and media as well as a deputy member in the committees for housing, urban development and transport, for federal and European affairs and for health and social affairs.

Gurke was chairman of the Ballenstedt Castle and Castle Park Association .
