Hermeskeil District Court
The District Court of Hermeskeil is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of eight district courts (AG) in the district of the Trier District Court . In terms of number of employees, it is the smallest district court in Rhineland-Palatinate .
Seat and District of the Court
The court has its seat in Hermeskeil in the district of Trier-Saarburg . The 450 km² judicial district extends to the area of the municipalities of Hermeskeil , Kell am See and Thalfang am Erbeskopf . Around 35,000 people live in it.

The court was initially housed in rented rooms. Around 1892 it moved to the upper floor of the new Hermeskeil town hall. In 1907/08, the new Trierer Straße 43 building was built for the Hermeskeil district court , and the exterior is still almost unchanged today.
history
The peace court in Reinsfeld can be seen as the predecessor of the district court Hermeskeil. The peace court was relocated to Hermeskeil in 1814. With the enactment of the Law on Courts in 1879 joined the district court Hermeskeil in its place.
Superior courts
The district court of Trier is superordinate to the district court of Hermeskeil . The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court Koblenz .
