Wolfgang Hünnekens (born April 4, 1958 in Düsseldorf ) is honorary professor for digital communication at the University of the Arts in Berlin (UdK).

Professional

In 1999, Hünnekens was one of the first German Internet pioneers in this segment to be the initiator and founder of the Institute of Electronic Business (IEB), the first affiliated institute of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). The IEB finances the Electronic Business course there and Hünnekens was the first chairman of the IEB board from its foundation until 2003. He is also a co-founder of the Research Center for Digital Communication at the UdK.

Since the summer semester of 2008, he has been visiting professor for digital communication at the Berlin University of the Arts in the “Leadership for digital communication” course offered by the UdK in cooperation with the University of St. Gallen. In 2012 he was appointed honorary professor for digital communication at the UdK. Until 2017 he was deputy chairman of the Freundeskreis der Universität der Künste eV - Karl Hofer Society .

From 2004 to 2012 Hünnekens was chairman of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee “ Creative Industries ” (formerly “Communication and Media”). Furthermore, from May 2008, at the invitation of the Berlin Senate Department for Economy, Energy and Enterprises, he was a member of the Berlin steering committee for the “ICT, Media and Creative Industries” cluster.

Hünnekens is the founder and board member of the funding organization "Friends of the WZB " of the " Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung gGmbH" and is currently its treasurer.

He has been a member of the Advisory Board of Berliner Sparkasse since 2014.

From February 2013 to the end of 2015 he was the founder and managing partner of iDeers Consulting (today: VORN Strategy Consulting GmbH).

Since 2015 he has been the founder and managing partner of the management consultancy “von Neuem”, which specializes in digital transformation .

Personal

Hünnekens is married, has two children and lives in Berlin.
