(19263) Lavater is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on July 21, 1995 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).

The asteroid was named after the Swiss pastor , philosopher and writer Johann Caspar Lavater (1741–1801), who lived at the time of the Enlightenment and greatly influenced the political and religious life of his contemporaries.
