Wolfgang Heuer (political scientist)

Wolfgang Heuer (* 1949 in Cologne ) is a German political and cultural scientist , private lecturer and Hannah Arendt researcher. He is responsible for setting up an international communication network for research on Hannah Arendt and since 2005 has been responsible for the international Hannah Arendt newsletter with German, English and, rarely, French articles, including previously unpublished works by Arendt from her estate.

After studying history, German and Latin American studies, he went on to study in Latin America. From 1979 to 1984 he worked as a consultant at the German Development Service. In 1991 he did his doctorate on Hannah Arendt's understanding of personal responsibility and political integrity. After researching the development of the habitus of courageous people in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden , he started teaching political theory and the history of ideas at the Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science at the Free University of Berlin. In 2003 he was a visiting professor at the Universidade Federal do Paraná in Curitiba, Brazil, completed his habilitation in 2004 with a thesis on courageous action in politics and in 2005 was again entrusted with a visiting professorship at the Núcleo de Estudos da Violência of the University of São Paulo , Brazil . Further research focuses are: biotechnology , " corporate social responsibility " in Brazil , political action in institutions and urban citizenship in the 21st century.
