Wolfgang Jörg

Wolfgang Jörg (born January 24, 1963 in Hagen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since June 8, 2005 .

Life

Jörg graduated from a university of applied sciences in 1983 and then attended the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences , where he graduated as a social worker. Until 2005 Jörg worked as an employee of the state parliament member Wilfried Kramps .

He is a member of the workers' welfare organization and the ver.di union .

politics

In 1985 Jörg joined the SPD. From 2001 to 2005 he was deputy chairman of the sub-district of Hagen, from 2005 to 2009 its chairman.

Local politics

From 1994 to 1999, and again from 2004 to 2006, Jörg was a member of the City Council of Hagen, where he was most recently deputy group chairman.

In September 2019, Wolfgang Jörg was elected as a candidate for the Hagen SPD for the post of Lord Mayor in the local elections in September 2020 .

State politics

Jörg has been a directly elected member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for the constituency of Hagen I since June 8, 2005 . He was confirmed in this office in the state elections in 2010 , 2012 and 2017 .

In his first electoral term, Jörg was a full member of the Petitions Committee , the Study Commission “Development of Proposals for an Effective Prevention Policy in North Rhine-Westphalia” and the Committee for Family, Children and Youth. He has also been the party's spokesman on the family committee since 2006.

In the current election period Jörg is chairman of the committee for family, children and youth and a member of the petitions committee. He is also a deputy member of the Committee on Equality and Women, the Committee on Culture and the Media and the Committee on the Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection. In addition, Jörg is deputy. Member of Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry IV (child abuse).

Jörg was elected for the first time in 2012 by the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia as a member of the Federal Assembly for the election of the Federal President and took part in the election. In December 2016, he was re-elected as a member of the 2017 Federal Assembly by his parliament .
