Wolfgang Müller (editor)

Wolfgang Müller (born November 28, 1923 ; † May 1, 2000 ) was a German cultural and transport authority director and local researcher .

Life

He was born as the son of the ministerial director Adolf Müller and his wife Elsa Müller, b. Anemüller born in Berlin. He spent his childhood in Berlin. Immediately after graduating from high school, he was drafted into military service in 1942. He was deployed in the Leningrad area and was taken prisoner by the Americans during the retreat via Pillau in Copenhagen. From this he was released in autumn 1945.

He started studying law in Heidelberg in 1953. In 1957 he switched to the regional newspaper Die Rheinpfalz as a volunteer in Ludwigshafen. Then he was employed in the local editorial office of Pirmasens. With the expansion of the Rhine Palatinate in the direction of Saarland after its annexation to the Federal Republic, he headed the local editorial office of the West Palatinate Rundschau in Homburg until 1970 . During this time he promoted the archaeological excavations at the Roman Museum Schwarzenacker by publishing specialist articles and actively collaborating .

At the beginning of the seventies he was hired as head of the cultural department of the city of Homburg. During this time he mainly dealt with the city's history, the Roman excavations in Schwarzenacker, the restoration of the noble house in Schwarzenacker and excavations around the Merburg in Kirrberg .

He died on May 1, 2000 and was buried in the Kirrberg cemetery. The local history part of his legacy was bequeathed to the Homburg City Museum and is open to the public.
