Wolfgang Neuen

Wolfgang Neuen (born September 28, 1947 in Hüls ) is a German diplomat and was the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Uzbekistan from 2009 to 2012 .

biography

Neuen joined the diplomatic service in 1967 and in the course of his diplomatic career found posts at the Consulate General in Chicago and the embassies in Yemen , Malta , the Republic of the Congo and France . In between he worked at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in the Central Department as well as in the Political Department and the Department for Disarmament and Arms Control.

In 2000 he succeeded Alexander Beckmann as ambassador to Tajikistan and held this post until he was replaced by Rainer Müller in 2003. He himself then became head of the German Information Center in Washington, DC. In 2006 he returned to Germany and was there in the Foreign Office active as head of department.

Since September 2009 Wolfgang Neuen has been the successor to Matthias Meyer as Ambassador to Uzbekistan .
