Rainer Müller (diplomat)

Rainer Müller (born May 11, 1953 in Bonn ) is a German diplomat .

Life

Between 1979 and 1980, Müller worked as a freelancer for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and in 1980 began his preparatory service for the higher-level foreign service. After graduation, it was used between 1982 and 1985 at the Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro and from 1985 to 1988 at the Embassy in Senegal . Having 1988-1993 at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn worked, he served from 1993 to 1997 as Deputy Head of Mission in Gabon and as such was temporarily also charge d'affaires . He then worked at the embassy in South Korea between 1997 and 2000 and then as permanent representative of the ambassador in Mozambique from 2000 to 2003 , before briefly heading a work unit at the Foreign Office in Berlin in 2003 .

In 2003 Müller succeeded Wolfgang Neuen as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tajikistan and held this office until 2008, after which Doris Hertrampf became his successor there. He then replaced Albert Gisy as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Malawi in 2008 and remained in this position until he was replaced by Peter Woeste in 2011. He then worked again in the Foreign Office in Berlin.

Most recently, Müller succeeded Jörg-Werner Marquardt as   Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Angola in 2014 . In 2018 he was replaced by Dirk Lölke .
