Wolfgang Pirklhuber

Wolfgang Pirklhuber (born April 25, 1961 in Linz ) is an Austrian agroecologist. From 1999 to 2017 he was a member of the National Council of the Austrian Greens . Pirklhuber was also a spokesman for agriculture and food safety.

Education and professional career

Wolfgang Pirklhuber first attended elementary school in Ebelsberg between 1967 and 1971 and then a federal high school in Linz, which he graduated from in 1979 with the Matura. In 1981 he began studying agriculture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna , which he obtained in 1988 with the title Dipl.-Ing. finished. Pirklhuber completed his studies in philosophy and German at the University of Vienna in 2003 with the title Dr. phil. from.

After completing his studies, Pirklhuber began his professional career in 1988 in project management and in the course management of the Ökowirt training for the Upper Austrian Chamber of Agriculture . From 1990 to 1999, he moved to an organic association as an agroecologist and managing director and also worked as an organic farmer. Since 1998, Pirklhuber has also been the head of the inspection body of a certification body for organic agriculture.

Political career

Pirklhuber gained his first political experience between 1983 and 1987 as a cultural advisor at the ÖH at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences. From 1993 to 1994 he created a concept for the Greens' agriculture program. From 1996 Pirklhuber worked with the Green Farmers in Upper Austria and has been on the extended regional board of the Greens Upper Austria since 1998. From 1999 Pirklhuber was represented in the National Council, whereby he received his mandate from constituency 4 (Upper Austria).
