Wolfgang Rainer Reimann (born July 26, 1944 in Berlin - Köpenick ) is a German local historian. He emerged as an author and photographer of non-fiction books on tram history.

Career

Reimann spent his childhood in Berlin. In the 1950s he moved to Wuppertal . There he completed his school education and then completed a degree in finance. Until he retired, he worked at the Wuppertal tax office. He has lived in Remscheid - Lennep since 2002 .

Even as a schoolboy he was interested in trams . By train and by bicycle, he set out in Berlin and in the cities of the Bergisches Land and the Ruhr area to record tram operations and their gradual suppression in favor of car traffic with his camera. In 50 years, an image archive comprising several thousand images was created. In 1972 Reimann began - partly together with other traffic historians - to publish richly illustrated volumes either in-house or with regional partners. In more than 20 books he documented the development of the tram network and the changes in the structural environment as well as the number of cars in the cities of Hagen , Herten , Remscheid , Wuppertal , Ennepetal , Mettmann , Berlin , Koblenz , Aachen , Paderborn and Mönchengladbach .
