Wolfgang Rainer

Wolfgang Rainer (born April 16, 1959 in Salzburg ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and secretary of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions . From 1994 to 2004 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

education and profession

Rainer attended elementary school in Hallein between 1965 and 1969 and then completed secondary school in Hallein from 1969 to 1974. He started an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer in Gröding in 1975 and did his military service in 1977. In 1978 he completed his apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer, whereupon he successfully passed the foreman examination in 1981. However, Rainer subsequently changed his profession and in 1983 became secretary of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions. In this context, he also graduated from the Vienna Chamber of Labor's social academy in Mödling . In 1988 he moved to the Bau-Holz trade union as state secretary, for which he worked until 2002. Rainer has been managing director of "Prasenta Rainer & Partner KEG" in Hallein since 2004.

Politics and functions

Rainer joined the Socialist Party of Austria and was active within the party from 1986 to 1992 as section chairman of the SPÖ Hallein-Altstadt. From 1988 to 1995 he was involved as chairman of the pension insurance institution for workers in Salzburg and from 1989 to 1994 he was a member of the Salzburg Chamber of Labor. In 1992 he took over the function of district party chairman of the SPÖ Tennengau and was also a member of the state party executive committee and the state party presidium of the SPÖ Salzburg. On May 2, 1994, Rainer was sworn in as a member of the state parliament.
