Wolfgang Riemann (* 1944 in Tyrol) is a German Turkologist and Islamic scholar . He lives in Frankfurt am Main and is considered one of the most prominent translators of modern Turkish literature into German .

Riemann translated well-known fiction writers from Turkish , for example three novels by Zülfü Livaneli , including the internationally successful novel Glückseligkeit (2008). In addition, Wolfgang Riemann has translated many novels and short stories by numerous Turkish authors into German, including: a. Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil's "Forbidden Loves". He also made it possible for authors to write in Turkish in Germany such as Habib Bektaş , Aras Ören and Fakir Baykurt to publish them in German.

In addition, Riemann works in his field of literature and bibliography. In particular, he published the study The Image of Germany in Turkish Literature (Harrassowitz, 1983) and the bibliography "About Life in Bitterland. Bibliography on Turkish German Literature and Turkish Literature in Germany" (Harrassowitz, 1900) Turks in Germany .
