Wolfgang Salzert

Wolfgang Salzert (born March 17, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German veterinarian . From 1973 to 2002 he was director of the NaturZoo in Rheine .

Salzert received his doctorate in 1972 from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover with a thesis on elephants: their pathology and physiological data of interest to the zoo gardener . During his work for the zoos in Rheine and later Nordhorn , Salzert gained a high reputation among experts for his innovative and natural enclosure design .
