Wolfgang Schneider (cultural scientist)

Wolfgang Schneider (born June 12, 1954 in Mainz ) is a German cultural scientist .

Schneider works as director of the Institute for Cultural Policy at the University of Hildesheim . He is the holder of the UNESCO Chair Cultural Policy for the Arts in Development. From 2001 to 2009 he was Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Communication.

His research and work priorities include cultural policy, cultural funding, cultural education, local cultural policy, foreign cultural policy, international cultural policy, cultural policy for children, theater policy, film policy and socio-cultural policy; numerous publications are available on this.

In 2018, Schneider received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class , as part of the awarding of the German Children's Theater Prize and the German Youth Theater Prize.
