Wolfgang Schumann (refugee)
Wolfgang Schumann (born March 7, 1949 in Dresden , † probably on September 6, 1977 in Freital ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .
Life
The engineer Wolfgang Schumann worked at VEB Plastmaschinenwerk Freital after his studies at the Technical University of Dresden . After the rejection of his application to leave the country , Schumann had an adventurous idea: He tried to smuggle himself into Germany in the oil tank of an injection molding machine that was manufactured by his company. His body was discovered on November 7, 1977 in Kaufbeuren, Germany, in the oil tank of such a machine, in which he had obviously suffocated.
